Chilcote’s Corporate Product Development Center Opens in Middleboro, Massachusetts
Middleboro, MA - The Chilcote Company of Cleveland, Ohio, announced the opening of its new Corporate Product Development Center within their Winthrop-Atkins facility in Middleboro, Massachusetts.
Dave Hein, CEO and Chairman of The Chilcote Company, introduced the announcement with these comments, “2006 will be a milestone year for The Chilcote Company. We are celebrating our 100 year anniversary of being in business, recognizing our past, and also opening our new Corporate Product Development Center, symbolizing our future. Our company has thrived over the years by providing a variety of products and services to our customers. Our future will be shaped by how we continue these efforts. With that in mind, The Chilcote Company is making a major commitment to product development and innovation, which represent the keys to our success as we enter our next 100 years.”
The new $350,000, 2,500 square foot Development Center is a state-of-the-art facility where brand managers, graphic artists and prepress engineers will cooperatively design new, innovative products using the most current resources and technology available. The center will contain a showroom, meeting area, and work spaces with an extensive array of equipment to simulate production capabilities. A full computer design center and photography studio, complete with digital cameras and an advanced studio lighting system, are contained in the new facility.
Hein added, “The Chilcote Company is made up of a variety of brands or business units. We have done business for decades, offering photo packaging and presentation products through our brands of TAP (Taprell Loomis), Topflight, Premira, Flora Professional Albums and Winthrop-Atkins. We provide photographers additional services through our professional photo product distribution brands, Wooden Nickel Albums, Crown Photo Products and Western Photographic Supplies. Our Graphic Imaginations and D. Davis Kenny companies produce custom products and product packaging for a broad range of customers. In the promotional products industry our Winthrop brand offers a variety of products and services, from imprinted desk calendars and restaurant menu covers to custom presentation folders. Our newest ventures include our Culver Art & Frame and Complements scrapbook product brands, both of which have great potential in retail and professional markets.”
The Winthrop-Atkins company, founded in 1919, moved from its original Pierce Street location in Middleboro, to its present location in the historic Star Mills buildings on the Nemasket River, in 1941. Winthrop was acquired by The Chilcote Company in 1999.
