The Chilcote Company was founded in 1906 in
Cleveland, Ohio, by August A. Chilcote producing items from paperboard
that were used to display photographs (Photomounts). These items were
sold by a direct sales staff across the country.
1949
The Crown Frame Company joins The Chilcote Company.
1954
Acquired Taprell Loomis from Eastman Kodak.
1968
Crown Products mail order distribution started.
1981
Company initiated its transformation to major manufacturing with
the purchase of its first Bobst press.
1984
Established Employee Stock Ownership Plan to perpetuate ownership
succession.
1986
Acquired Forest City Bookbindery to provide equipment to manufacture
wedding albums.
1992
Continued vertical manufacturing integration by purchasing its first
large format printing press.
1997
Acquired D. Davis Kenny Co. to expand its manufacturing capabilities and
add the Topflight brand of album products.
1999
Acquired Winthrop-Atkins to expand its Photomount production capacity.
Introduced markets for promotional products, photo greeting cards and
the Folders Made Easy division.
2001
Acquired Lakeview Products to enhance the Graphic Imaginations service
business.
2002
Acquired Wooden Nickel Albums as a direct distributor of photographic
packaging products.
2003
Opened Flora Albums to provide premium albums to professional
photographers.
2004
Relocated Crown Products from Cleveland to Draffenville, KY and changed
the name to Crown Photo Products. Opened second location in Carrollton,
TX.
Our employee owners were the proud recipients of the National ESOP Association recognition of ESOP Company of the year.
2005
Acquired WPSI in Garden Grove, California and Portland, Oregon to increase our distribution capabilities.
Acquired Culver Art & Frame in Columbus, Ohio to diversify our product line.
2006
In 2006, The Chilcote Company celebrates its 100th year in business. The Employee Owners of The Chilcote Company wish to extend our thanks to all of our customers, and we look forward to proudly serving you for the next 100 years.
Acquired Enbee Plastics, Inc. in Long Island City, NY. The company moved the Enbee operation from New York to its MIddleboro, MA facility
